Preamps, buffers / Where are the BOMs?!?
Last post by thommy - April 30, 2024, 02:02:22 PM
I'm reviving some old projects and found a bag with six diamond buffer PCBs and all the components to build them. Great, now I have something to do in the evening. However I can't find the BOM anywhere so have no idea where to solder the parts. Nothing on the product page, and the downloads page is empty...

Solved. it had shorted another component on the DAC circuit.

Sure, that's a very good option. My DAC/Streamer uses 8 transformers. They all live in another box along with 8 full wave rectifiers. I use a 16 pin aviation connector and multicore cable to send all the unregulated but rectified DC into the box with the electronics where it gets distributed to the various regulators which are positioned as close as possible to the circuits they power.

Hi,
thank you for answering.

If I then place the regulators as close as possible: could I place the transformers a bit away in separate enclosure? also regarding audio quality.

Best regards

Power supplies / Re: SSR01 input/output

So i tried to work it out and got it wrong, shorted the output to ground. The BC556 at the output has melted so I replaced it and can measure the correct output voltage again but when connecting it to a load the led goes dim and the LM317 gets hot, is anything else likely to have failed?

Interestingly the bench psu also craps out when the regulator has a load on it, dropping from 18v to 4v.

So SSR01 without load is fine.

Bench psu powering load directly is fine.

SSR01 and bench psu not happy under load.

A year late, but you want to run the regulators as close as possible to the device. Youre basically running two antennas through other noisy gear and that is going to reinject noise into your low noise power line. I use silver plated ptfe coax cable and keep it as short as i can.

I am reviving an old project and doing some rewiring. Nowhere on the SSR01 page can I find any mention of which connections are for power in and out! The schematic image is too low resolution to read anything and the downloads link just takes me to a Paypal site in Swedish which I cannot understand!
